A life-long resident of Ashland County and a 1971 graduate of Ashland High School, Fred Schwan served the Ashland community for over 30 years as a Fire dispatcher, Volunteer firefighter, full-time firefighter/paramedic and Captain at Ashland Fire Department.

Fred also was owner of Schwan Moving Service, which became Schwan Lawn and Landscapeas well as an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

When he passed away in 2016, Schwan’s family and friends of Fred created a memorial scholarship to support training of firefighters and paramedics who have a desire to serve Ashland County.
