Community Foundation elects new trustees and officers

ASHLAND – Ashland County Community Foundation is welcoming three new members to its board of trustees.

Newly-elected trustees Dustin Beattie, Kenneth Milligan and JoAnn Ford Watson, Ph.D. each began their four-year terms at the foundation’s annual meeting July 25.

Beattie is a Vice President of Simonson Construction Services, Inc. He also volunteers his service on boards in the community.

Milligan is retired from a career in banking, including roles as Senior Vice President at Huntington Bank and FirstMerit Bank. He previously served two terms on the ACCF board.

Watson is a Professor Emerita of Ashland Theological Seminary and an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church. She serves as past chair of ACCF’s Women’s Fund Steering Committee and chair of the Foundations Community Childcare board.

Retiring trustees Al Holdren, Donald Stump and Peggy Yoder were recognized for their service to the foundation. They will be honored more formally at the foundation’s “An Evening of Appreciation” event August 25.

In a brief “State of the Foundation” address, ACCF President/CEO Jim Cutright noted that rapid growth in new fund creation demonstrates the community’s faith in the organization.

During the 2021-2022 fiscal year, 51 new funds were created at ACCF, bringing the total number of funds under the foundation’s management to 611. This was the greatest number of funds created in a single year at ACCF. 

In the foundation’s 27 years of existence, nearly $22.6 million has been given to the community through grants, scholarships and other distributions. Cutright expressed gratitude for the 7,289 donors who have contributed to the foundation’s impact over the years.

The following officers were elected for the 2022-2023 fiscal year: Anne Cowen, Chair; Dwight McElfresh, Vice Chair; Marcy Myers, Secretary; Brian Hinkle, Treasurer; Al Holdren, Past Chair; Lucille G. Ford, Founding President; James Cutright, President/CEO; Kristin Aspin, Chief Program Officer; Brittaney Reep, Chief Financial Officer; Ann Guthrie, Recording Secretary. Irwin Financial Associates was selected as Auditor for the 2022-2023 year.
