Community Grants
In Spring 2025, thirty-five organizations serving the Ashland County community received grants totaling $232,959.
ACCESS received a grant to support the renovation of the agency’s new Maple Street building into apartments.
Advocates for Families, CASA Program received a grant to support volunteers with legal resources and gift certificates to offset their fuel costs.
Appleseed Community Mental Health Center received a grant for the purchase of electronic healthcare record automation and AI solutions software.
Ashland All Sports Boosters received a grant to purchase and install a Charitable Gaming Machine at Buffalo Wild Wings to support the Booster Club.
Ashland Area Amateur Radio Club received a grant for a radio communications system to be installed at Ashland University to serve as a regional and county resource.
Ashland Balloonfest, Inc. received a grant to cover the costs of ground displays, equipment and travel related to a kite show at Ashland Balloonfest’s 35th anniversary event.
Ashland Christian Health Center received a grant to purchase a laptop computer for its providers.
Ashland County Cancer Association received a grant for technological upgrades.
Ashland County Community Academy received a grant to purchase a passenger vehicle to transport students.
Ashland County Council on Aging received a grant to support Social Senior Society at the Meadows at Pheasant Run condo development, to benefit the social and mental well-being of residents.
Ashland Family YMCA received a grant to support the Ashland Family YMCA’s Myers Field Campaign.
Ashland First Church of the Brethren received a grant for gutter, downspout and fascia replacement on its roof.
Ashland High School Boys and Girls Track received a grant to purchase additional team uniforms, as well as stop watches and resistance bands for the growing team.
Ashland Soil and Water Conservation District received a grant to develop additional parking and improve accessibility/safety at Hazel Willis Woods.
Ashland Special Needs Ministry received a grant for its summer picnic, and equipment to further assist families in Ashland County impacted by special needs.
Ashland Symphony Orchestra received a grant to fund “Coffee Around the World,” a concert featuring music from coffee-producing countries, in collaboration with Goldberry Roasting Company.
Catholic Charities Corporation – Ashland County received a grant to expand the Golden-Centers’ Pen Pal program by serving additional older adults and students across Ashland County.
Clear Creek Township received a grant to fund replacement doors for the second floor of Savannah Town Hall.
Explore Ashland received a grant to develop a new, user-friendly website with updated content, improved navigation, and mobile-friendly capabilities.
Firelands Ambulance Service Volunteer Association received a grant to fund extrication tools needed for the EMS Rescue Truck.
Fostering Family Ministries received a grant to provide ongoing support to families through family coaching and family weekend day camp.
Loudonville Athletic Boosters received a grant for equipment upgrades to the Loudonville-Perrysville Exempted School District’s fitness room.
Loudonville FFA Alumni & Supporters received a grant to buy materials to build vendor stalls for an annual Christmas Market in the village.
Mohican Historical Society Inc. received a grant for improvements to the Copus Hill Site, which includes installing exhibit panels, constructing a fence and improving the site’s walkway.
Nankin Community Church received a grant to support a painting project at the church.
North Central State College Foundation received a grant to implement a program for Ashland employers to prepare their employees to take positions requiring Supervision, Leadership and Excel training, and to provide leadership skills to newly promoted supervisors.
Nuhop Center for Experiential Learning received a grant to expand emotional and behavioral support at Camp Nuhop with the addition of new staff.
Park Street Brethren Preschool received a grant to support construction of its new playground.
Pathfinder Farms received a grant for start-up funding for its Fields of Grace program.
RePlay for Kids received a grant to supply adapted toys to Ashland libraries for loans and for programming, as well as to make adapted toys available for residents through the RePlay@Home program.
Sullivan Fire and Rescue Association received a grant to provide first-aid training to township residents, and to maximize the ability of volunteer first responders to serve residents quickly and efficiently.
The American Red Cross Chapter of Heartland, Stark, Muskingum Lakes received a grant to fund the operation of blood drives in Ashland County.
The Salvation Army received a grant for professional development courses for Learning Zone teachers, and to purchase curriculum for STEM courses taught in the Learning Zone.
Trinity Lutheran Church received a grant to support the Trinity Lutheran Church Broadway Revue.
United Church Residences of Ashland Ohio Inc. (Mill Run Place) received a grant for new flooring on the third-floor hallways to reduce the fall risk and cleaning costs, as well as improve the living environment.
In Fall 2025, thirty-five organizations serving the Ashland County community received grants totaling $281,617.
A Kid Again received a grant to support cost-free adventures for families raising children with life-threatening conditions.
ACCESS received a grant for furnishings and small repairs to open a safe, welcoming place for women and families.
Advocates for Families received a grant to renovate the basement for both a youth area and a meeting room to meet with individuals and their families in a confidential environment.
Appleseed Community Mental Health Center received a grant to renovate a newly acquired building for the expansion of mental health services, and to upgrade the fire alarm system at the main office.
Ashland Christian Health Center received a grant to fund new flooring in the basement bathroom and storage areas.
Ashland City Schools received a grant to support expansion and modernization in the Music department.
Ashland County Cancer Association received a grant to fund the purchase of ergonomic office chairs, gift cards for volunteers, and tables for its rummage sale and other events.
Ashland County Historical Society received a grant for “Bringing History to Life in Ashland County.”
Ashland Main Street received a grant to purchase and install wayfinding signs on Claremont Avenue and I-71.
Ashland Pregnancy Care Center received a grant to support “Reach Her First” — online, around-the-clock access to life-affirming care from nurses for pregnant women in crisis.
Ashland Special Needs Ministry received a grant to support “Night to Shine,” which celebrates community members with special needs, and to support meal preparation for families as part of ASNM’s respite program.
Ashland Symphony Orchestra received a grant for office upgrades and an orchestral arrangement.
Ashland University received a grant to support STEM and art enhancement for the Homeschool and Classical Learning Center at AU.
Ashland Youth Baseball Association received a grant for baseball and softball training aids and equipment.
Associated Charities received a grant to help fund a walk-in freezer for their warehouse.
Coleman Health Services received a grant to provide tailored employment services and transportation aid to support Ashland County residents.
Five Stones Community Church received a grant for supplies and equipment to promote and expand the impact of their community meal/hospitality program.
Flying Horse Farms received a grant to fund programming for campers during the 2026 camp season.
Heartland Technical Education Center received a grant for adult diploma assistance.
Jeromesville Community Fire District received a grant to support the purchase of weight training equipment.
Loudonville Agricultural Society Inc. received a grant to fund flooring for their Fair Office.
Loudonville Nazarene Church received a grant to pave the church’s parking lot and driveway.
Loudonville Theatre & Arts Committee received a grant to fund royalties to produce two musicals and one play.
Loudonville United Methodist Church received a grant to renovate an existing office into a handicapped bathroom.
Ohio Bereavement Collaborative received a grant for a pilot program that offers free peer-based grief support groups for grieving children and their caregivers.
Pleasant Hill Outdoor Camp received a grant to support the purchase of Outdoor World Sport – Playland Ninja Rig.
Rape Crisis Domestic Violence Safe Haven (Appleseed) received a grant to repaint the exterior of the Safe Haven Shelter, to install synthetic turf in the outdoor play area, and to purchase landscaping supplies to provide a welcoming and trauma-informed environment for survivors and their children.
Runyan Memorial received a grant to purchase wreaths to be laid at the headstones of local veterans buried in Ashland cemetery.
The Salvation Army received a grant to purchase a 12-passenger van for transporting kids, picking up food pantry items, pulling a trailer, moving theater sets, hauling Club STUNT and Drone Soccer equipment, and moving equipment to and from storage.
Third Street Family Health Services received a grant to improve the parking lot at the Ashland Health and Wellness Location.
United Church Residences of Ashland Ohio Inc. (Mill Run Place) received a grant to replace exterior doors to improve safety, accessibility, energy efficiency and security for residents.
United Methodist Church of Savannah Ohio received a grant to repair the ceiling of the church sanctuary.
Additionally, three organizations received Community Grant distributions in recognition of Hazel Myers Spreng. They include Ashland Public Library, First United Methodist Church and United Way of Ashland County
Women's Fund Grants
In 2025, 13 organizations serving Ashland County women were awarded Women’s Fund Grants totaling $39,827.
Acts 4 Love received a grant to provide cancer capes for kids.
Appleseed Community Mental Health Center received a grant to fund a healthy eating cooking class for adults with mental health needs.
Ashland Christian Health Center received a grant to provide mammograms and gynecological care for women in need who are uninsured or underinsured.
Ashland Special Needs Ministry received a grant to fund a Moms’ Getaway for mothers of children with disabilities.
Firelands Ambulance Service Volunteer Association received a grant to purchase neonatal, pediatric and obstetric-specific simulation equipment for use in training EMS volunteers.
Mission to Amish People received a grant to support a career development program, and enhance security features for young women new to English-speaking life, enabling them to successfully transition and thrive in their new community.
North Central State College Foundation received a grant to implement an Ashland County Feeding Roots Project for NC State students and their families to ease the burden of hunger, and allow them to focus on their educational goals.
Rape Crisis Domestic Violence Safe Haven/Appleseed received a grant for installing access controls, and installing/configuring an intercom system that is compatible with the current phone system, in order to improve the safety and security of those at the shelter.
Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio received a grant to fund a home-away-from-home for Ashland County families with children requiring medical care in central Ohio hospitals.
The Salvation Army received a grant to fund Summer Day Camp Before and After Care Scholarships for low-income families.
United Church Residences of Ashland Ohio Inc. (Mill Run Place) received a grant to fund basic needs – such as cleaning supplies, personal care items and food – for the low-income, older adult residents who are struggling to afford these critical care items due to inflation.
The following organizations were awarded proactive grants from the Women’s Fund to help with programming: Acts 4 Love and Foundations Community Childcare.
IMPACT Youth Grants
In 2025, nineteen organizations serving Ashland County youth were awarded IMPACT Youth Grants totaling $25,000.
Appleseed Community Mental Health Center received a grant to support Empowering Youth through Positive Messages.
Ashland Bookcase Project received a grant for bookcase materials, new children’s books and reading buddies.
Ashland Brethren In Christ Church received a grant to help with supplies for Vacation Bible School 2025.
Ashland City Schools received a grant to support start-up costs for Ashland Arrows Care Closet at Ashland Middle School.
Ashland County Community Academy received a grant for items for ACCA News Media Program.
Ashland County Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse received a grant for supplies for Summer Youth Prevention Education Camp.
Ashland County Farm Bureau received a grant for a third-grade farm tour.
Ashland County Women of Achievement received a grant for local high school students to hear a motivational speaker.
Ashland Public Library received a grant to support Color Our World-Summer Mural Project.
Ashland Symphony Orchestra received a grant to support the music for Paddington Bear’s First Concert.
Foundations Community Childcare received a grant to support its Summer Enrichment Program.
Loudonville Church Women received a grant for electronic school supplies and accessories.
Loudonville Theatre & Arts Committee received a grant for art equipment for The Ohio Theatre Arts Alive Art and Drama Camp(s) programs 2025.
Pathfinder Farms received a grant for hybrid work and life skills program support.
Rape Crisis Domestic Violence Safe Haven/Appleseed received a grant for tablets for youth in the shelter to access resources and connect with family members.
Replay for Kids received a grant to support a toy adapting workshop with Ashland public schools and the Hillsdale FFA program.
The following organizations were awarded proactive grants: Ashland High School Lunch Bunch, Ashland Special Needs Ministry and Ashland City Schools Arrow to Arrow Mentoring.

In the spring of 2025, Ashland City Schools Foundation and Ashland County Community Foundation awarded 20 mini-grants totaling $4,968 from ACSF and $15,713 from ACCF.

Strategic Grants
While most of our grants are awarded in response to grant applications or at the direction of donors, we also make grants proactively when possible. We use unrestricted funds to make these strategic grants based on needs and opportunities in our community.
During the 2024-25 fiscal year, 19 Strategic Grants were awarded to support opportunities and meet needs that fall outside our annual grant cycles.
