Ted and Patricia Byerly

Ted, a graduate of Hayesville High School, and Patricia, an Ashland High School graduate, married in 1959 after attending Ohio State University. In 1976 they returned to Ashland County when they purchased the funeral home in Loudonville. The family includes son, Tim, and two grandchildren of Corpus Christi, Texas and a daughter, Lynn, and three granddaughters in Mason, Ohio.

Both Ted and Patricia are retired funeral directors, a career that speaks to the importance of service. Ted is past president of the Loudonville Chamber of Commerce and District II of the Ohio Funeral Directors Association as well as a former member of the Loudonville Library Board.

Patricia’s recent community service includes 11 years on the Samaritan Regional Health System Board, a founding director of the Samaritan Hospital Foundation, and a steering committee member of the Ashland County Community Foundation Women’s Fund. She is also a director of Farmers and Savings Bank. She and her husband attend Grace Brethren Church of Ashland.

The Byerlys established a donor advised fund as a vehicle of support for local charities, most recently a local Helping Hand project. Though they had contributed for years, they wanted to be assured the program, which gives support for food, health care, rent, and more on a short-term basis, would have continued funding for generations to come. “It is a way to give back to the community that so generously supported us, and ACCF provided the mechanics for doing such in a professional way.”
