Loudonville family remembers Air Force cadet with scholarship (Russell William Blakely Scholarship)
After graduating from Loudonville High School in 1943, Russell W. Blakely enlisted in the Air Force as an aviation cadet. During his training, he became interested in medicine and read many medical books.
But Blakely’s dream of becoming a doctor ended when he died in an Air Force plane crash in 1945. His family created a scholarship in his memory to enable other LHS graduates to achieve their goals in the medical field.
