Mini-grants support 21 teachers’ projects

ASHLAND – Ashland City Schools Foundation and Ashland County Community Foundation are pleased to announce the recipients of their fall semester teacher mini-grants. 

These mini-grants will allow 21 Ashland County educators to implement innovative programs and projects to advance student learning, both in and outside their classrooms.

Grants totaled $5,441 from ACSF and $18,093 from ACCF. The following teachers received grants:

Ashland City Schools Foundation

  • Martha Bickley, Ashland High School, received a grant for “Talk with the World.”
  • Jacqueline Thacker, Ashland High School, received a grant for “Building Thinking Classrooms in Mathematics.”
  • David Thompson, Ashland High School, received a grant for “Hidden Wonders under the Microscope.”
  • Kara Young, Edison Elementary School, received a grant for “Books Help the WRITE Stuff.”

Ashland County Community Foundation

  • Zane Aleman, Ashland Middle School, received a grant for “Musical Instrument Maintenance.”
  • Travis Beck, Taft Intermediate School, received a grant for “Making Test Prep/Review Fun!”
  • Ryane Briggs, Ashland High School, received a grant for “Arrow to Arrow Mentoring.”
  • Amy Chandler, Reagan Elementary School, received a grant for “News-o-matic.”
  • Elizabeth Condit, Ashland High School, received a grant for “Sensory/Flexible Seating.”
  • Shari Harlan, Edison Elementary School, received a grant for “Today a Reader, Tomorrow a Leader.”
  • Kelsey Kenney, Loudonville High School, received a grant for “Exploring Our Job and Life Skills.”
  • Kristen Leiby, Mapleton Elementary School, received a grant for “Strong Hands.”
  • Andrew Lewellen, Hillsdale Middle School, received a grant for “All About Animation” and supplies.
  • Julie McDonnell, Taft Intermediate School, received a grant for “Ready Set Go-The Kinesthetic Classroom.”
  • Tracy Morgan, Ashland High School, received a grant for “Real Life Field Scientists.”
  • Alexandria Paulino, Edison Elementary School, received a grant for “STEM in action!”
  • Monica Ralpj, Mapleton Middle School, received a grant for “Promoting Positive Participation in the Post Pandemic Pupil.”
  • Aimee Ross, Loudonville High School, received a grant for “The Art and Science of ‘Appreciology:’ Becoming Leaders.”
  • Kelly Shetler, C.E. Budd School, received a grant for “Time for Kids.”
  • Valerie Welday, Edison Elementary School, received a grant for “Grow our Classroom Library!”
  • Kyle Wissel, Hillsdale High School, received a grant for “Understanding History through an American Musical.”

Ashland City Schools Foundation and Ashland County Community Foundation are currently accepting applications for spring semester teacher mini-grants. Grant requests should be for programs and projects that are not covered by school budgets.

Any K-12 teacher from any school in Ashland County may apply online at www.ashlandforgood.org/grants by January 15. Applicants from the Ashland City School district will be considered for ACSF grants, and all applicants will be considered for ACCF grants.
